AKC Rally is a favorite class that emphasizes teamwork between the dog and handler. Multiple cues, both verbal and non-verbal, can be used. The first two levels are performed with the dog on lead. There are three higher levels performed with the dog off lead. Basic obedience exercises such as sit, down, stay, heel and come are used in various combinations to allow the dog/handler teams to show how they work together.

Therapy Dog Skills Training

Catawba Valley Obedience Club, Hickory, NC

Therapy dog skills training teaches the skills required for a therapy dog candidate. A therapy dog needs to be comfortable working around medical equipment such as walkers or wheelchairs, and with patients who might move differently or make unusual noises. Mastering these skills can be used for certification with a therapy dog organization.
